The role, at a glance:
The Electroacoustical Engineer position provides significant expertise on complex electroacoustical engineering design, measurement, optimization, and acts as a professional resource for the New Product Development/Introduction (NPD/I) core team and supports manufacturing production operations as needed. It is suited for a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and curious loudspeaker design engineer. The successful applicant will have a structured, logical approach to their work and be motivated to learn new skills. This is an in-office position located at Biamp’s Chester, Pennsylvania facility with long-term growth potential.
How you'll contribute:
- Work with stage and gate process to develop new products that fulfill customer requirements and meet technical specifications
- Perform loudspeaker measurements both in the lab and in the field
- Process and analyze measurement data, compile results, and present conclusions
- Build loudspeaker enclosures and assemble prototypes
- Design loudspeaker systems
- Design, build, and modify passive crossovers
- Develop DSP-based loudspeaker optimization
- Document processes and procedures
- Work with suppliers and external engineers to support product design and development
- Semi-autonomous position depending on level of experience
- Independent, critical thinking skills
- Regular, consistent, and punctual in-person attendance required at Chester facility
- Support manufacturing production operations for end-of-line electroacoustical testing as needed
- Support in-house and contract manufacturer mass production as needed
- Maintain organized laboratory, workspaces, and equipment
A successful candidate should have:
- Education: Undergraduate college degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or acoustics or substantial equivalent work experience is required; advanced degree, such as master’s degree, is desirable
- Experience: Minimum of one year of electroacoustical engineering design and measurement experience developing manufactured products
- A passion for audio
- Experience with electroacoustic measurement tools and techniques
- Working knowledge of MATLAB
- Basic use of hand tools
- Ability to solve complex problems; make decisions based on the analysis of multiple information sources
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
