Description

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support the design and development of generator enclosure systems used in power generation applications.  This role combines structural design, thermal management, and acoustics to create high-performance enclosures that meet industry standards and customer requirements. 

This is an excellent opportunity to work on real-world infrastructure projects in a hands-on, growing organization. This position is on-site 4 days, with one remote work day.

Responsibilities Include:

• Design generator enclosure systems including frames, panels, doors, and mounting structures
• Develop 3D models and detailed drawings using Inventor software
• Perform thermal and airflow analysis to ensure proper cooling and ventilation
• Apply acoustic design principles to meet noise reduction requirements
• Apply structural design standards for durability under vibration, transport, and site requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers
• Create and maintain Bill of Materials and engineering documentation
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ISO, UL, NEC, IIBC, etc.)
• Support prototyping, testing, and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
• 3+ years of mechanical design experience
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD preferred)
• Experience with sheet metal design and fabrication processes
• Understanding of thermal systems and airflow design

Preferred:

• Experience with generator enclosures or industrial equipment enclosures
• Knowledge of acoustics and noise attenuation
• Familiarity with FEA tools
• Understanding of NEMA/IP ratings and environmental sealing
• Experience working closely with manufacturing teams
