Job Description:  RSi is looking to fill a Painter position to support our NASA customer. In general, the work of the painter includes knowledge of surface peculiarities and types of paint required for different applications; preparing surfaces for painting by removing old finish or by placing putty or filler in nail holes and interstices; and applying paint with a spray gun or brush.

Job Duties: 

• Paints and redecorates stands, walls, woodwork, and fixtures. The painter may mix colors, oils, white lead, and other paint ingredients to obtain the proper color or consistency.
• Must prepare surfaces by sandblasting, sanding, applying chemical degreasing and etching solutions, metal conditioners, and wash primers.
• Must paint a variety of wood and metal items, primarily by spraying with lacquers and acrylics.
• Must independently plan details of the work, selecting the method, equipment, and process best suited for a particular requirement.

Qualifications and Experience: 

• Requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor working environments. May include test areas, test stands, laboratories, chambers, machine shops, cold and hot weather environments, heights, and confined spaces.  

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):  

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in awkward positions to access work areas
• The use of tools associated with the position 
• Lifting up to 40 lbs
• Must use proper PPE for all tasks

Other Essential Functions (with or without reasonable accommodation):  

• Must be able to communicate with peers, supervisors and customers
• Must be able to work independently or in a team
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions

Clearance: Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.
