Job Summary
Full-Time and Permanent; Non-Exempt; 8 Hours/Day; 252 Days/Year; 12 Months/Year; Grade: KK
Performs skilled journey-level work involving the repair, modification, maintenance, and installation of new and existing plumbing systems, including water, sewer, steam, and gas systems. Responsibilities include pipefitting and steam fitting duties and supporting maintenance operations as required.
General Responsibilities
Oversee and participate in the work of a small team engaged in identifying defects and repairing, installing, and maintaining piping and drainage systems for water, sewer, steam, and natural gas.
Troubleshoot, test, repair, maintain, and modify commercial plumbing, pipefitting, and steam-fitting systems and equipment.
Cut and thread pipes to ensure proper connections.
Install, repair, and replace valves (gas, relief, thermo) and related controls, traps, plumbing fixtures, and holding units.
Plan and perform trade work at the full master level.
Replace cooling and dual-temperature pumps.
Repair and replace heaters (up to 80 gallons).
Repair swimming pool and irrigation piping systems; install, test, and repair cross-connection and backflow control devices.
Maintain and operate hand and power tools including pipe threaders and cutters, electric sewer routers, ejector pump machines, augers, water jet sewer machines, gas leak detectors, welding torches, backflow testers, multi-meters, temperature sensors, drills, dies, and other plumbing equipment.
Perform effectively during emergency repairs and adapt to changing priorities.
Ensure safe work practices and maintain a safe work area.
Use ladders and scaffolding as needed.
Work under the general supervision of a Senior Coordinator.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
High school diploma required; some college coursework preferred.
Graduation from an accredited apprenticeship plumbing and pipefitting program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least one year of customer service experience required.
At least one year of relevant experience preferred.
High school or trade school degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency, or valid work authorization required.
Licenses and Certifications
Journey Plumber License.
Journeyman Gas Fitter License.
Backflow Prevention Tester License (City).
2 PSI Natural Gas Certificate.
Valid driver’s license required.
