Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED and two (2) years related journeyman roofing experience. Pre-employment physical exam required. Valid driver's license required and must be insurable by the University's insurance carrier. Grade 4 (Hourly)
Position Description:
The Roofer II position will perform skilled maintenance and repairs to wide range of roof types and construction. This position also performs general carpentry work for building alterations and repairs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Repair and install a variety of roof types, including shingle, slate, metal, and built-up roofs.
- Repair and maintain gutters and downspouts.
- Use various types of waterproofing materials, sealants, and caulking.
- Perform routine roof inspections, document findings and keep updated records on file.
- Maintain records of supplies ordered, work completed, and equipment.
- Install or repair ceilings, doors, windows, locks, hardware and furniture.
- Frame, repair, and modify existing walls; hang and finish drywall and plaster.
- Safely operate equipment such as bucket trucks, snorkel lifts, bobcats, and backhoes.
- Participate in required training and follow all guidelines that pertain to snorkel lift and bucket truck operation.
- Maintain, secure, and properly store tools, ladders, scaffolding, and equipment in accordance with code and safety guidelines.
- Keep work area clean, safe, and properly roped off.
- Maintain an up-to-date MSDS and follow all safety protocols.
This position is a required personnel position and requires the employee's physical presence at the workplace. Additionally, the employee is required to report to (or remain at) work to assist with university emergencies during closures.
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
