Responsibilities
- Investigate and provide engineering evaluations of customer product inquiries
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to implement design changes, process improvements, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Provide concise technical reports to support investigations and technical judgments.
- Assist in knowledge transfer and documentation for future product iterations and new development efforts based on learnings from sustaining activities.
- Participate on cross-functional project teams in the development of new MSA products.
- Complete risk analysis, design calculations, FMEA's and design reviews to verify that design meets or exceeds product specifications.
- Develop an effective test plan, coordinate efforts to test the design, and utilize statistical methods to verify performance.
Qualifications

- Solid mechanical aptitude, including comfort with tools and equipment usage

- Solid writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills
- Solid organizational skills and a customer-based perspective
- Travel (Domestic and International) up to 15%.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of personal protective equipment and its usage
- Demonstrated ability to use statistical tools including designed experimentation, measurement systems analysis, and Minitab statistical software
- Familiarity with ANSYS finite analysis software (static and dynamic simulations)
- Knowledge of rapid prototyping methods and materials for metal, plastic, and elastomeric components
- Proficiency with Solidworks and/or ProEngineer.
Education and experience required:
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical discipline from an ABET accredited institution.
This position is available at two different career levels based upon experience, education, etc.:
- Level one (Staff I Engineer): no experience required
- Level two (Staff II Engineer): 2 years relevant experience
- MS degree may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience
