Job Description
This position is responsible for maintaining company aircraft to ensure safe, reliable transportation for company personnel, conducting operations within FAA rules and regulations, company policy and NBAA/VAI industry best practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance, including inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, general upkeep, and routine cleaning.
- Maintains aircraft logbooks, associated paperwork, the Computerized Aircraft Maintenance Program, and electronic library to ensure records are accurate and current.
- Manages accountability for spare parts and supplies, ensures receiving and inventory records are properly maintained, and coordinates freight delivery services.
- Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work areas and operable equipment, promptly reporting any issues to the Manager or Lead Mechanic.
- Ensures safe ground handling and towing of aircraft for departures and arrivals and maintains tool control and accountability in support of the FOD prevention program.
- Participates in the Safety Management System, including aircraft-specific incident and accident reporting, to support the department’s safety culture.
- Maintains all licenses and certificates required to perform assigned maintenance duties and attends recurrent training to maintain proficiency.
- Completes company administrative and training requirements in a timely and professional manner.
Job Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment or luggage and perform physical activities—including walking, standing, squatting, bending, twisting, and stooping—for approximately 90% of the shift, as needed.
- Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, and man lifts, perform elevated work with fall protection, and work in restricted or confined spaces.
- Ability to work 10-hour shifts on an alternating monthly schedule, providing rotating three-day weekends, with availability for day or evening shifts, occasional weekends, holidays, and after-hours callouts.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across the aviation department to support safe, efficient operations.
- Thorough knowledge of and ability to demonstrate industry safety practices.
- Availability for occasional travel for offsite maintenance, project management, and training.
- Must reside within a one-hour commute of the assigned work location.
Qualifications
- High School Education or equivalent.
- 5 years’ experience working as an Aircraft Technician or other comparable combination of education and experience.
- 3 years’ experience working on turbine powered aircraft or other comparable combination of education and experience.
- Experience as a complex helicopter mechanic/maintainer, prefer twin engine Bell product experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the planning, implementation, and direction of the maintenance programs and control system for the aircraft operated.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Federal regulations and standards relating to aircraft maintenance.
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Possess an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to acquire a Class D Chauffer’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on Bell 429 helicopter and/or Bombardier 300/350/3500 aircraft.
- Experience with Veryon [formerly Flightdocs] and CAMPS.
- Inspection Authorization (IA).
- Sheet Metal Experience.
- Avionics Experience.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- OEM/Factory training.
