Forma is seeking a highly motivated Director, Publications in their Watertown, MA office. This role will drive the development of strategic publication plans across multiple assets and drive the implementation of key publication projects including abstracts, manuscripts, posters, presentations, and patient lay summaries. This individual will work in close collaboration with clinical development and medical affairs colleagues to deliver on publication plans. The ideal candidate will have strong publications knowledge and experience to deliver the highest quality publications at Forma.

About the Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of strategic publication plans for the Forma portfolio of assets with cross-functional input from Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and Patient Engagement
  • Lead the development, editing, approval and submission of all Forma publications (including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, oral presentations, review articles) to ensure timely communication of clinical and scientific data
  • Develop patient lay summaries for manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations in collaboration with Patient Engagement
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications and Investor Relations for communication activities (including press releases and investor presentations) for high visibility publications
  • Develop and/or refine relevant processes, best practices and SOP for publications development, review, and approval and define metrics to measure success
  • Lead selection, implementation, and training of publications management software
  • Maintain current knowledge of guidelines from the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and Good Publication Practice (GPP), as well as applicable regulations
  • Maintain a pulse on industry trends and innovation in publications planning and implement as appropriate
  • Facilitate internal publications team meetings and publications steering committee meetings
  • Collaborate with medical communications team to support the development and delivery of training on key publications for Field Medical Affairs
  • Manage budget and relationships with publication vendor(s) and/or medical writers to deliver projects in alignment with timelines and defined objectives
  • Leverage the established scientific platform, where applicable, to ensure consistent messaging
  • Communicate publications plan progress and metrics to medical affairs leadership team
  • Serve as subject matter expert on data and publications
  • Maintain internal publications library
  • Support the delivery of other publications and medical communications related projects as needed


Requirements

About You:

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

  • PharmD, PhD or MD degree
  • 10+ years post-doctorate healthcare or related experience
  • 8+ years Medical Affairs experience or related industry experience
  • Prior publication planning experience required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Cross-functional collaboration experience
  • Strong project management capabilities and a keen eye for attention to detail
  • Operate with a mindset of strategic thinking, innovation, and inclusivity
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical clinical development lifecycle and process
  • In-depth understanding of business, regulatory and compliance environment as well as publications guidelines
  • Proven track record building and managing relationships with vendors and managing budgets
