Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Train and lead field crews in determining exact location and measurements of control points, elevations, lines, and areas to secure data used for construction, map making, boundary delineation, or other purposes;
  2. Effectively apply RCS methodology and enforce project standards;
  3. Review blueprints, plans, and legal deeds to survey areas in detail;
  4. Find property corners, make calculations or rotates found corners to deed;
  5. Keep detailed and accurate records of crew activities, survey notes, field data, line work files, and sketches of work performed and secure data, all data must be acceptable as court exhibits if needed;
  6. Operate survey instruments on more difficult and exacting survey work, which includes Leica Robotic Total Stations and Leica GS15 and GS18i GPS receivers. Also operate GPS units as base stations for GPS static traverses;
  7. Work with project coordinators and contractors in providing survey data for expediting construction projects, understand construction plans and procedures to layout buildings, utilities, curb and gutter, blue tops, etc.;
  8. Locate survey monuments;
  9. Cut and remove brush and undergrowth for line of sight along property lines;
  10. Drive wood hubs and spikes into asphalt or hard packed foundation roadway base, or locate the same with metal detectors, pick, etc.;
  11. Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service;
  12. Establish control traverses with Total Stations and GPS equipment and run Class A Horizontal and Vertical traverses per NGS standards.


Qualifications/Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

·         Field survey methods and techniques used in land surveying and mapping including Leica GPS and Robotic Instruments.

·         Construction plans and specifications.

·         Perform higher-level mathematical calculations such as algebra, and trigonometry using a calculator or computer.

·         Compute angles, bearings, arcs, and distances from survey data, calculate curves, calculate areas, etc.

·         Work cooperatively and respectfully with other employees, craftsmen, property owners, contractors and the public.
