Tradesperson – Fitter / Boilermaker / Welder Mechanical Maintenance | Fabrication | Welding | Industrial Site Works Immediate Start | Ongoing Casual Work | Potential Full-Time Opportunity Based from Latrobe, Tasmania
Due to an increase in workload and a strong pipeline of upcoming projects, SICC Services is seeking a capable, hands-on tradesperson with experience in mechanical fitting, boilermaking, welding, fabrication or industrial maintenance.
This is a predominantly site-based role suited to someone from a mechanical or engineering trade background who is confident using tools, repairing and assembling equipment, fabricating components and supporting varied industrial maintenance works.
SICC Services is a well-established Tasmanian business delivering industrial, commercial and civil maintenance services across the state. We support clients across the water and wastewater, energy, transport infrastructure, mining and resources, manufacturing, local government and commercial sectors.
Our work includes asset inspection, maintenance and remediation, mechanical repairs, fabrication support, concrete repairs, surface preparation and protective coatings. Projects are varied and may be undertaken at treatment plants, industrial facilities, bridges, civil infrastructure and other operational client sites.
SICC Services forms part of S & K Howard Pty Ltd, a family-owned Tasmanian company based in Latrobe, which also proudly operates Epoxy Solutions Tasmania and ProBlast & Protective Coatings (Tas). Together, our businesses provide a broad range of industrial, asset maintenance, fabrication, epoxy flooring, surface preparation and protective coating services.

This position will initially be offered as ongoing casual work, with the potential to be reviewed for full-time employment for the right candidate.
What you’ll be doing Depending on current projects and operational requirements, your work may include:
Mechanical fitting, repairs and industrial maintenance at client sites Welding, fabrication and modification of steel components Equipment assembly, installation and alignment Repairing and replacing mechanical components Measuring, cutting, drilling, grinding and preparing materials Interpreting drawings, measurements, specifications and work instructions Diagnosing and resolving practical mechanical or fabrication issues Structural steel repairs and modifications Supporting civil, industrial and asset-maintenance projects Using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment and site machinery Assisting with site establishment, mobilisation and pack-down Maintaining safe, tidy and client-ready work areas Working independently and as part of a small, capable crew Travelling and working away from home when required As part of our varied project work, there may also be opportunities to assist the team with concrete repairs, surface preparation, abrasive blasting, painting and protective coatings when required.
What we’re looking for A qualified or highly experienced tradesperson from a relevant mechanical or engineering trade background Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills Welding, fabrication, fitting or industrial maintenance capability Experience working safely and productively on active worksites A reliable and consistent work ethic—you turn up on time and are ready to work Someone who will fit well into our crew and contribute positively to our team culture A respectful and cooperative attitude A willingness to support other team members and assist across varied project work The ability to work independently without constant supervision Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of your work The ability to follow drawings, instructions, specifications and safety procedures Clear and professional communication A willingness to learn new skills and undertake further training Flexibility to work additional hours, travel and stay away from home when required Relevant trade backgrounds We would be interested in hearing from candidates with experience or qualifications in areas such as:
Mechanical fitting Fitting and turning Boilermaking Welding and fabrication Engineering fabrication This is a hands-on role, and we are seeking someone with an industrial, mechanical, fitting or fabrication trade background.
Essential requirements To be considered for this position, you must have:
