Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. The Smart Factory & Digital Transformation Group (PSS-5) is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Support Manager 3 (First Line Manager) to support important national security missions. PSS-5’s primary core functions are to facilitate the Digital Transformation of ALDWP operations and establish an integrated Smart Factory. Reporting to the Group Leader, in this role you will provide management and leadership to the Architecture and Planning team. You will have the responsibility, authority, and accountability to execute work that supports programmatic milestones and deliverables while setting standards for professional behavior. This is a regular, onsite role in Los Alamos, NM, with a salary range of $128,000 - $215,900.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and define strategic IT architecture objectives and establish scope, schedule, and budget through work package development, resource, and performance management, ensuring worker qualification and authorization
- Deliver quality architecture solutions, enforce adherence to quality standards, and achieve balance between the need to meet both productivity goals and quality standards
- Work with facility operations staff to execute work safely, securely, with quality, and in compliance with nuclear facility requirements
- Ensure direct daily oversight of work, workers, and the work environment and report ongoing communications with line management on work status, deliverables, and commitments
- Direct and oversee work performed by employees, including "on the floor" supervision, providing financial stewardship over budget, procurement, time and labor, travel, and property
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and 5+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
- Demonstrated record of successful technical leadership and proven ability in supervising, resolving conflicts, administering discipline, mentoring, team building, managing staff requirements, motivating employees, and developing personnel, such as students and/or early career scientists and engineers
- Experience directly related to information technology/operational technology within manufacturing and industry 4.0 objectives
- Demonstrated experience in planning, managing, coordinating, and developing work scope, schedules, budgets, and tactical execution of work, tracking, reporting progress and digital transformation initiatives
- Experience in working with confidential or proprietary information, classified documents, or sensitive information
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, as evidenced by internal and/or external interactions, seminars, briefings, presentations, and publications
- Currently active, or ability to obtain and maintain, DOE Q clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in project and program management, including planning, organizing, and resource management (e.g., defining work unit objectives and tasks in alignment with organizational objectives, and tracking and reporting on progress)
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and integrating systems for process improvements in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with agile frameworks such as scrum and Conduct of Operations planning and execution
- Experience with utilizing and integrating with cloud technologies such as AWS and SAP and with IT/OT integration technologies
