Description

The Village of Oak Brook is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanic to join our Public Works Vehicle Maintenance Division. This role performs maintenance, diagnostics, and repair work on a wide range of Village vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate is coachable, a strong communicator, and thrives in a team-focused environment. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m with participation in after-hours work.

Requirements

Perform mechanical repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, diagnostics, and routine services.
Weld and fabricate parts using stick and MIG welding; design and build custom components.
Conduct field repairs and coordinate equipment transport.
Maintain shop tools, facilities, and equipment.
Operate specialized vehicles and heavy equipment.
Use computerized diagnostic tools for troubleshooting.
Assist other departments during emergencies, including water main breaks.
Participate in snow and ice operations (plowing, salting).
Respond to call-outs on a 24-hour basis as required.
Follow all safety policies and maintain exceptional customer service.
