- Mechanical Simulation Engineer

Description:
Design, manufacture, install and maintain steel processing equipment. From concept to completion engineer will oversee every aspect of their project. They work closely with millwrights and machinists to troubleshoot problems and engineer solutions under tight deadlines.
Responsibilities:
Use engineering expertise, to analyze and design steel processing equipment
Use Solidworks to generate machine and fabrication drawings based on part and assembly models
Conduct cost analysis on corporate projects to estimate payback
Purchase material, components and controls for large capital projects
Work with suppliers to ensure cost effectiveness and timely delivery
Maximize processing equipment based on operator and supervisor feedback
Review damaged equipment and recommend modifications to prevent future failures
Improve designs to address millwrights and machinist’s feedback
Reverse-engineer equipment for in-house replication
Use Simulation Software to simulate metal forming processes (stamping, tube bending). Assist customers in optimizing their product designs for cost, weight, performance, and manufacturability.
Partner with our tooling engineers to recommend and coordinate product design improvements and changes to our tooling suppliers.
Experience & Education:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
Technology
Knowledge of mechanical principles including statics, dynamics, physics, fluid dynamics
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including material selection, machining, welding
Experience with CAD software including CATIA, Inventor, Pro-E and preferably
Solidworks
Ability to comprehend and generate technical drawings
Hands on experience with assembly and repair of mechanical components
