Job Title: Plant Manager – Three-Product Distillation Plant
Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Job Type: Full-Time
About Us:
We are a forward-thinking energy solutions company dedicated to sustainable resource recovery and optimization. Our flagship project, a Three-Product Black Gas Distillation Plant, will process feedstock to produce purified gasoline, high-grade diesel, and reusable heavy fuel oil (HFO). We seek an experienced and dynamic Plant Manager to lead operations at our state-of-the-art facility in North Carolina.
Position Summary:
The plant manager will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensure safety and environmental regulations compliance, and lead the team to achieve operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive experience in industrial distillation processes, and a proven track record of managing complex plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
o Manage all aspects of plant operations, including production, maintenance, and quality control.
o Oversee the efficient processing of feedstock into gasoline, diesel, and HFO, meeting targeted yields.
o Ensure optimal utilization of energy-efficient technologies, including heat exchangers.
Team Leadership:
o Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing operations team.
o Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Safety and Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
o Develop and enforce safety protocols and procedures.
Maintenance and Reliability:
o Oversee preventative maintenance programs for the distillation tower, storage tanks, heat exchangers, and other critical equipment.
o Ensure minimal downtime through proactive troubleshooting and repair strategies.
SCADA Systems and Software:
o Manage and maintain SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems to ensure seamless monitoring and control of plant processes.
o Train staff in the effective use of SCADA systems and related operational software.
o Analyze SCADA data to identify trends, improve efficiency, and troubleshoot operational issues.

Enterprise Software Familiarity:
o Utilize enterprise resource planning (ERP) software such as SAP, Maximo, or similar platforms to manage operations, inventory, and maintenance schedules.
o Ensure team members are trained on relevant software tools for operational efficiency.
Financial and Operational Reporting:
o Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including yields, throughput, and costs.
o Manage the plant budget and work to meet financial objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for education.
- 8+ years of experience in plant management, preferably in the oil and gas, petrochemical, or renewable energy sectors.
- Strong knowledge of distillation processes and energy recovery systems (heat exchangers).
- Proven leadership and team-building skills.
- Experience with SCADA systems and operational software.
- Familiarity with enterprise software such as SAP, Maximo, or equivalent.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in using operational and financial management tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience managing startup operations for new facilities.
- Knowledge of hazardous material handling and storage.
- Certifications in process safety management (PSM) or Six Sigma.
