Position Summary
The Plant Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the business unit facility, ensuring safe, compliant, efficient, and costeffective operations. This role oversees production, maintenance, regulatory compliance, employee supervision, and financial performance while ensuring highquality products are produced and delivered on time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Plant Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Schedule and coordinate daily plant operations, including incoming tonnages, intake sales coordination, and compost production based on customer orders.
Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, permits, and compliance standards.
Supervise, train, develop, and discipline production employees in accordance with company policies and applicable labor laws.
Oversee maintenance and servicing of plant equipment, including negotiating, scheduling, and managing outside contractors as needed.
Maintain parts, tools, and supplies inventory to support maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
Administer company environmental, health, and safety policies and serve as the primary site contact for inspectors, compliance officers, and regulatory agencies.
Manage site expenses and maintain full P&L responsibility for the facility.
Ensure consistent production of quality products and timely delivery to customers.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, community partners, and the public through effective communication, outreach, and resource management.
Monitor and improve operational efficiency, safety performance, and employee engagement.
Perform additional duties as assigned or directed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Typically manages one subordinate supervisor or lead, along with production employees.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, planning and assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in operations management, engineering, environmental science, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in plant, operations, or production management, preferably in environmental services, manufacturing, recycling, composting, or industrial operations.
Prior experience supervising production or operations staff required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to manage plant operations, maintenance programs, and contractor relationships.
Experience with budgeting, cost control, and P&L responsibility.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to train, motivate, and develop employees in a safetyfocused environment.
Excellent organizational and problemsolving skills.
Proficiency with standard business software (Microsoft Office or similar); experience with plant management or ERP systems preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Regularly works in a plant/industrial environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, weather conditions, and odors typical of environmental processing facilities.
Must be able to walk the plant site, climb stairs or ladders, and occasionally lift or move items consistent with operational needs.
