Position Summary, Duties and Responsibilities
Hiring Range: $24.04 - $30.35 per hour
POSITION PURPOSE:
Serves as a generalist in support of Apex Center operations and general facility management. Responsible for helping guest services staff, registration software expert as well as serving as a manager-on-duty (MOD) and assisting the Apex Center management team with the supervision of part-time employees. Supports management in efforts to hire, train, schedule, and supervise staff. Assists management with providing and ensuring quality service to all Apex guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Trains and schedules, part-time employees for party hosting.
- Expert user in Rec Tech. Can help with day-to-day tasks that manager delegates.
- Interacts with all patrons in a courteous, patient, and informative manner.
- Have a solid working knowledge of district-wide facilities, programs, and staff to address questions and concerns as they arise.
- Assist with general patrons' inquiries, issues, and concerns as they arise.
- Be a team player willing to help in other areas of the building as the situation dictates, including admissions, ice, aquatics, hospitality, child watch, guest services, and special events.
- Acts as manager on duty of the Apex Center during designated times.
- Assists with all aspects of the building, including overall cleanliness and appearance of the building.
- Assists with the overall risk management of the Apex Center.
- Respond to patron and guest injuries following established protocol and training.
- Responsible for understanding and communicating the facility's daily schedule, including all programming and special events, to patrons and guests.
- Takes reasonable steps to address any issues concerning facility programming, including but not limited to absent staff, scheduling conflicts, or weather-related issues.
- Accurately and proficiently handle Rec transactions dealing with creating (and editing) individuals and accounts, passes, and activity registrations.
- Process payroll for part-time staff.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes the team player concept by performing and completing other duties and tasks as directed, including assignments for the district.
- Shall be familiar with and promote the aims and objectives, rules, regulations, and policies of the district.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with supervisors, other employers, and facility patrons.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Maintains the playground and safety of all the parts of the playground.
- Maintains the cleanliness and safety of the child watch area and office area.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES:
- This position recruits and supervises numerous year-round, seasonal, and part-time staff and volunteers.
Requirements
Job Qualifications
- Working knowledge in various aspects, including hiring, scheduling, programming, and supervision.
- Knowledge of computers and technology that pertain to everyday use.
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of customer relations techniques and communication.
- Possess and maintain a driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Working knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and general office equipment.
- Proficiency with applicable computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, POS/Registration) and District-wide computer software systems.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, organize and monitor multiple recreation functions, work under minimal supervision, and assume responsibility for task initiatives and completion.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other District staff and the general public, make sound decisions, and use good judgment in stressful situations.
- Ability to analyze situations thoroughly, identify problems, and find practical solutions.
- Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public by answering questions and handling complaints.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Education and Experience
- A high school diploma is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, with one to three years of related experience. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must possess a current and valid Colorado driver's license.
- CPR/first aid/AED certifications are required within 90 days of hire.
- CPRP preferred.
Work Environment
This position takes place primarily indoors but could require some outdoor activities in various weather conditions, such as salting sidewalks or shoveling snow.
Physical Activities
- Ability to move 50 pounds, i.e., a folding metal table.
- Ability to be on feet for long periods, responding to various needs within the facility.
- Hand and eye coordination for operation of office equipment.
- Vision to read and interpret written documents.
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and guests.
