Description

The Senior Design Engineer / Engineering Department Manager is responsible for the structural engineering, technical leadership, and overall management of the Engineering Department. This position ensures that all building systems are engineered safely, economically, and in compliance with applicable building codes, MBMA standards, AISC specifications, IAS certification requirements, and company quality standards.

The above includes order analysis, estimates, design engineering, engineering software and programming, engineering detailing, and specifications of material and outputs to manufacturing.

S/he will provide engineering support to Sales, Estimating, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Field Services as needed and will be an essential member of the management team. 

 In addition to performing structural engineering duties, this position manages engineering workflow, supervises engineering personnel, establishes department priorities, coordinates with Sales, Project Management, Detailing, Manufacturing, and Purchasing, and drives continuous improvement initiatives that improve quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Education - Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required.

Licensure - Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.

Experience - 

     Minimum ten (8) years of structural engineering experience.

      Minimum five (5) years in pre-engineered metal building design preferred.

      Previous supervisory or department management experience strongly desired.

      Experience with International Building Code (IBC).
