As a Sr. Welder, you will maintain and repair shoring and shielding equipment in the rental fleet while supervising the equipment associate staff. You'll be dedicated to the service of Frac Tank Manufacturing equipment. Every day, you can improve and challenge yourself, and if you have the desire and ambition, you'll have the potential to work towards higher roles in our Service Department. Like every member of our team, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to our customers.
What you'll do:
- Supervise the work performed by Welders and Equipment Associates
- Read drawings to determine the appropriate welding method and equipment based on requirements
- Operate overhead cranes, use chains magnets and other lifting devices to move material and hold in place.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements.
- Determine proper material and pre-cut parts per drawings
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions(vertical, horizontal or overhead)
- Provide applied skill set training to welders
- Inspect, repair equipment to ensure that it is safe for use
- Perform non-structural repairs or modifications to equipment per manufacturer's specifications
- Fabricate projects in the facility as required
- Complete work orders on equipment service and maintain an inventory of related parts for repair
- Ensure a clean and safe working environment
- Other duties assigned as needed
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Welding school certification
- 3-5 years experience in Arc, MIG and TIG welding
- Proven skills reading blueprints and layouts
- Must be able to burn efficiently and with good quality
- Must be able to identify the type of welder, and wire or rod size, needed to complete safe repairs
- Knowledge of OSHA applicable state and local requirements relative to trench and excavation shoring and shielding
- Knowledge of OSHA safe working practices
- Good leadership and teamwork skills
- Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals' policies and procedures.
