About the Role:The Welder/Former plays a critical role in the fabrication and assembly of metal structures and components, ensuring that all welding and forming tasks meet stringent quality and safety standards. This position requires precision and expertise in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to produce durable and accurate metal products. The Welder/Former will collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes and troubleshoot any issues that arise during fabrication. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to prevent defects and maintain a safe working environment. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the successful completion of projects by delivering high-quality welded and formed metal parts on schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a welder and metal former in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of welding safety standards and practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multiple welding processes including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) or equivalent recognized credential.
- Familiarity with CNC metal forming machinery and programming.
- Completion of an apprenticeship or formal training program in welding and metal fabrication.
- Basic understanding of metallurgy and material properties.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding and forming requirements.
- Perform various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding to join metal parts according to project specifications.
- Operate metal forming equipment including presses, rollers, and bending machines to shape metal components accurately.
- Inspect welded and formed parts for defects and ensure compliance with quality standards and safety regulations.
- Maintain welding and forming equipment, performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute fabrication tasks efficiently and meet production deadlines.
