Description
Position Summary:
We are seeking Aluminum Pulse Welders and Steel Welders. Welder are responsible for performing high-quality welding on structural steel or Aluminum components used in shipbuilding and marine repair. This role requires experience with Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW / fluxcore welding) and the ability to work in a fast-paced shipyard environment while meeting strict safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
Perform welding on steel structures using Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) processes
Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work instructions
Fit, align, and weld structural steel components for vessels and marine systems
Operate welding equipment safely, including fluxcore welding machines and cutting tools
Conduct multi-pass welds in various positions (flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead)
Inspect welds for accuracy, penetration, and overall quality; repair defects as needed
Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions
Collaborate with shipfitters, supervisors, and QA personnel to ensure project specifications are met
Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with shipyard safety standards
Requirements
Qualifications:
3+ years of steel welding experience in a shipyard, industrial, or heavy fabrication environment preferred
Proven experience with Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) required
Ability to pass weld tests (fluxcore) in multiple positions
Strong understanding of welding symbols, blueprints, and fabrication drawings
Familiarity with shipbuilding standards and procedures is a plus
Ability to use hand tools, grinders, and cutting equipment
Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Capable of standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods
Comfortable working in confined spaces and extreme weather conditions
Must be able to wear required PPE, including welding hood, respirator, and protective gear
Work Environment:
Shipyard environment with exposure to noise, heat, cold, and industrial hazards
Work may be performed indoors and outdoors on vessels under construction or repair
Preferred Certifications (Not Required):
AWS Welding Certification (FCAW)
OSHA 10 or 30
